Ok, a sports photographer I'm not

But, I love baseball and I've gone to a number of games this summer for our local minor league team, the Grand Junction Rockies. One day, a friend of mine from my camera club and I actually had tickets right behind home plate! That was a lot of fun, I have to admit. It's really cool seeing the ball come right at you (thank goodness for the net!) I caught this shot when the opposing team, Missoula (MT) Osprey, was pitching and managed to catch the ball suspended in midair. My aperture was wide open to let in as much light as I could and I was focused on the pitcher rather than the batter. I was sitting close enough to the net that if I leaned forward just enough, I could make the net disappear, but it was kind of hit and miss.
It's certainly a challenge trying to figure out the ISO, shutter speed, etc. when shooting fast action like this. I think I need a lot more practice
