Blue Grace

by Emily Kent

I was having fun playing with the lighting and WB settings for this shot. An unintentional blue color came through, almost as if to suggest a hint of sadness deep within the rose, despite it's tall, beautiful grace.

Camera gear and settings used: NIKON D5000, ƒ/5.6, 1/60 sec, 45 mm, 200 ISO

Beautiful and very artistic. I like the addition of the water droplets.

Emily - Whatever you did seemed to work well. I like the drops of water the most here. If you did not really shoot it at this high a magnification, may be leave some space on the left and right/

Well done. I like the implied movement of the water drops as they follow the path of the petal. The blue rose dominates the frame, but I also like the fillip of OOF red in the LRC. :toast:

The rose is beautiful and the drops of water add some fine accents. The blue hints in the petals are a fine addition, I'm less sure about the strong blue in the sepals, but will readily admit to that being an artistic decision.

The droplets are the stars here for me, Emily, but I also like the shadowy appearance of the stem. Like Ram I think a little more room either side would be good but that's a tiny nit - the mood of the image is strong in any case.

Thank you all for the feedback! Something about this image had been bothering me a little bit, and it's definitely the need for more background space at the sides. Much appreciated!
