Real Checkers

Of course, I don't mean the game. The checkered BG was out of the camera. It was formed from dried grass blowing behind the flower.

What do you think of my cropping? I centered the "V" , which opens to the left side....I know, that you can do that successfully sometimes with "V's". But, that changes up the rule of threes a bit. What do you think? Pleasing, interesting, or just wrong?

Lucy: The crop works fine for me and the overall comp. My only nit is the softness of the flower center. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

Lucy, I will agree with Bill. The "V" does give you some nice leading lines.

The cropping and off-centering works with the flower aimed at the open space. The reds…a bit too neon for my tastes. Nicely done!

Lucy - I try not to crop my photos unless I want a different aspect ratio.

I like the background and the composition specially with space in front of the flower

Lucy, I really like the composition you've achieved. Maybe tone down the reds a bit, but that might just be me.
