Orange Bishop
by Harry Harris
I had been hearing about this bird for weeks so I joined a buddy for a trip to locate him in Irvine, California. Yesterday i used a 7D because of the cropped sensor which might bring him in closer. We spotted him and once we noted his territorial pattern of perches I set up and got quite a few images. I was not happy with the noise on my images so I went back this morning with my 5DMlll and 1.4 extender.
The little fellow was there again and his pattern seemed about the same so I set up. I was glad when the light improved. This little fellow really glows.

Tack sharp, excellent colours, GREAT singing pose and interesting perch. Very slight haloing around the bird.
but a Top-notch image!

PS - Phil, Orange Bishops are native to sub-Sahara Africa. They are called weaver finches and were introduced into Southern California in the 1980′s. They like areas with lots of weeds, like river bottoms. I've heard these guys were down there, but have never seen one.
Nice composition!
