Spruce Grouse Hen

Canon 5D Mk III, 500mm x 1.4TC, handheld lying on ground
f7.1, 1/640, ISO800

Less than ideal lighting condition but always a treat to find a Spruce Grouse.

Full frame, selective sharpening to bird. I like the bright background but could be persuaded to pull it down.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

I have never seen this bird and would love to see one. Very nice details, especially in the larger version ! I like the fallen leaves in the foreground and background as well. Well done ! :toast:

Seeing this Grouse in her environment really shows the camouflage of these hens. Nice low angle on this one Jim and nice find.

Very nice feel to this image, Jim. The grouse is very sharp and your in-camera composition is perfect. The background adds a lot, but I might be tempted to tone down some of the brighter leaves in the background. :toast:
