Mimicry

Grown-up monkeys usually act pretty 'cool' and just walk past you as if they haven't even noticed you. But young monkeys are simply fascinated by strange things (like humans ;-)) and they hang around, look…and mimic…One of the participants to the photo safari pulled faces and made large eyes…and the baboon did his monkey-see-monkey-do-thing. Eating leaves and swaying from branch to branch, however, was something we DIDN'T show him

Nicely caught of the unusual pose. Good detail and a super background.

Fun pose and really great light. With that catch light and background, it almost looks like a studio setup.

Maybe, he was trying to see whether 'man-see-man-do' thing would work! He obviously thought humans are not very intelligent, as no one tried to imitate him :jump:

Lovely colours, pose and soft light Ingrid.
I would consider a slight crop from the top?

Hi Ingrid,

I agree with the others that the pose is great - for me the two things that really stand out are the magical eyes and the leaf in the mouth. While I somewhat like how the monkey seems almost be playing "hide-and-seek" with the frame of the image (or, alternately "popping into" the shot), I think I agree with Morkel on a crop from the top.

Cheers and thanks for sharing this one...

He looks great, Ingrid. I like the leaf, the diagonal branch and the terrifically expressive eyes. Only tweak I would suggest would be to alter ratio and take some of the space from the top.
