Lotus - Past and Future

Shot this Lotus and seed pod a few months ago. I wanted to focus on the bloom but also show the pod, but not perfectly clearly. I think the f/8 worked well.

D800 1/125 sec @ f/8 ISO 320

Thanks for taking a look and for your comments.

Sanjay - Looks pretty good to me. Pod in better focus will also make for another composition but I am torn between seeing two good subjects vying for attention in that case and this composition.

I think in this case, I'll let the artist win.

Very nice, Sanjay. Good use of the dark bg. The seed pod competes with the flower but if you wanted to include the pod in the image but give it less "billing," rendering it oof the way you did was the way to go. Well done.

This is really great Sanjay. Excellent view of new and old. I love the light, focus, and color on the bloom. Nice amount of depth to show the seed pod in the BG. Very, very nice.

Excellent details on the lotus and a nice background and lighting to set it off. I would like to see a bit more of the stem at the bottom to where the pod and the stem meet (assuming they do). Right now, the image looks a little unbalanced.

Hi Sanjay :wavey: The composition could be stronger with a less detailed seed pod. the colors, detail and light on the lotus are sublime. excellent work..

Very nice and yes the focus works beautifully, as well as the composition.
