Irene Fire at Sunset

I was part of a group of jumpers that just left the 100 acre Irene Fire after a week of working to get line around it, and am back in Redding and on call again. We jumped the fire late in the evening after flying directly through the massive plume from the King Fire, and just had time to scout a route to it for the morning before it got dark. I took this image as we made it to a granite outcropping with a good view of the smoke from the fire, which was beautifully lit by the setting sun.

Olympus OM-D EM-5, 9-18mm lens, 1/60 sec at f/11, ISO 400

Fantastic shot! Thank you for all the difficult and dangerous work you and your fellow jumpers are doing out there. The photo is a touching story needing not one word! Many congrats on the Pick! :toast:
