Thank you for all your valuable inputs on my last orchid. Here is another image of the same orchid and same composition, but with a higher DOF. Am interested to know if this is sharp enough.

1D3/180mm, ISO200, 1/4s@F/10, Ev -2/3, natural light.

P.S: I had wrongly specified the f-stop as F/15 in my previous image. It was actually F/5.

Yes, the DOF works much better for me in this one. I think that those FG blooms are sharp enough. I think this addresses several of my concerns with the other one.

There you go, Govind. Much better. The colors pop against the dark bg w/o any distractions. I like that you also got the leaf in the lrc sharp. I wondered about the f15 when you later commented about shooting this at f10. :wavey:

Good stuff, Govind. Which was it—f/5, f/10 or f/15? Whichever, sharp detail and a big pop from the dark BG!

Thanks, Nathan, Scott, Philip.

Philip: This image was taken at f/10. The image I posted before was f/5 (but erroneously typed as f/15). :wavey:

Govind - This is exactly the way it should be. F/10 is a good boy

Very beautiful, Govind ! I like the overall sharpness of the orchids against the stark black bg. The circling composition, completed by the leaf at the bottom, is delightful.

Govind. I didn't see the first one...but this one is very nice. Good sharpness and DOF.. I find the leaf at the bottom right a little bit out of place. It ruins the nice arching balance you have. I would remove it if it were mine.

I like very much the softness of the flowers. I agree with you decision of keeping the leaf because for me it finishes the composition.
Take care.
