Smoky Morning

Fire season is wrapping up, and I'm flying back to my home base of West Yellowstone from Redding today, and then i'll start the long drive home to Virginia. It's been a great season, and the photo i'm posting today is from the Irene Fire on the first morning we hiked up to it. It was at 8000 feet in the High Sierra, so there were some massive trees amongst the boulder fields, and I loved how the sunlight lit up the smoke filtering through these huge dead snags.

Olympus OM-D EM-5, 9-18mm lens, 1/100 sec at f/4, ISO 200

It's been quite a fire season here in the west, and especially CA. Thanks for your efforts on the Irene fire: It certainly had the potential to grow. I am glad to hear that you are safe.

Nice light and an interesting composition.

Have a safe trip home!

Nice job on this, Thomas. I like it as a color image but may be worth playing with a conversion. The rays are sweet.
