Late Riser

Here's the same buck from the other day but this time he's closer to the trail so getting a closeup was easy. Early in the morning so it's still not fully light under the trees. Looks like he's having trouble figuring out how to get rid of the dried up velvet as long strings of it are now hanging from the antlers. Like the last time, he eventually stood up and walked to an oak tree and started feeding on acorns. Extra strength for the rut! This is full frame to which I added a little more exposure, slightly reduced highlights then added contrast, clarity, and some warmth. Your comments and critiques are welcomed.

Peter,
To my eyes this needs a further increase in exposure and an adjustment to the white balance to reduce the "blue" cast. I do not use Lightroom so have no idea as to the processes you could use, sorry about that.

IMHO this image does need to be brightened some, as it is it is almost a monochromatic image. I like the pose you captured of this blacktail buck, but the OOF vegetation on the left is very distracting. I think you could crop this to a vertical pose and have a stronger image. Those strips of velvet hanging down must be irritating him. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more deer images.

Dandy buck and the velvet draped antlers are a nice interest point. I agree with brightening this up and tweaking white balance accordingly.
