Our baby BoP is finally here. I've had the good fortune to witness butterfly births many times in our garden but have never seen a flower open. This morning I watched this beauty take wing over about a 40 minute time span. This was one of the first of the sequence. I've been impatiently waiting for this one to open and the experience this morning made it all worthwhile. All comments welcome.>=))>

PS: Hatchling 2 is hiding out in macro.

So much detail and texture, Bill, giving a wonderfully sensuous feel. I thought at first maybe just a touch dark but I suspect the deep orange especially comes through better as is. Great moment to have caught - you keep coming up with such creative BoP shots !!! I like the macro shot very much too, but this would have to be my favourite.

Spectacular image, Bill. Phenomenal details in the colors and textures. I really like your composition emphasizing the horizontal lines. :toast:

Looks like you are set for the next month.

Very, very nice Bill. The anticipation has been fun to witness. This works really well.

Very nice Bill. You have built up the anticipation. Good to see the flower opening. The blue in the background really makes the orange pop. The lines are beautiful. Very well done!

Hi Bill. Exceedingly sensuous shot, almost Weston-like. the only part that doesn't totally work for me is the very bottom. A slightly closer crop off it perhaps? Well done.

Wonderful shot. The extreme closeup makes for a quasi-abstract that's very pleasing indeed.
