These guys are so shy in most places that they vanish into the distance when you are about 200m away, leaving you with hundreds of rear shots  So, congrats on getting a shot of this eland from so close. However, as you say, the very bright sun detracts from the quality, as does the angle. Were you shooting down from a higher vantage point?

Great capture of this elusive antelope. You did well with the harsh sun. The angle is a bit steep, but not a deal breaker.

Thanks everybody for the comment, much appreciated.

Ajit,
This waterhole is indeed below the viewing area.

I have been to two places where Eland do not run away,
Chikwenya in Zimbabwe, next door to Mana Pools, and De Hoop Nature reserve in my homeland it is less than 150 km from me, must go again.

Mid-day light nonetheless, you have found optimum angle to minimize its negative effects.
