African Fish Eagle
by Nate Chappell
Here's a shot from our recent Chobe, Botswana extension. This African Fish Eagle took off from the bank with this large strand of weeds, we weren't sure if it was lining for it's nest or not, if anyone knows if they line their stick nests with fresh material let me know. I liked the image partially because it's different from the usual fish eagle fare with well fish in their talons.

This certainly makes a nice change from the "usual" fishing shots. I have never looked very closely at a Fish Eagle's nest (too high up
But I think that like most raptor nests they are largely a pile of twigs.
Chobe sure has plenty of them
