Jagdeep,
Wonderful colours in this one. I might consider a vertical crop if IQ allows , just to remove some of the road

What does "masth" mean? Does it have anything to do with the dark band under the elephant's mouth? I agree with Ken, a vertical crop would answer composition needs.

Really shows the condition very well, with the broad band of fluid on the males head. How close were you?
I also agree with the crop off of the left. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jagdeep,
Nice documentation of a poorly understood "condition" in male elephants - and glad to see you survived this encounter!
As others have stated, the road detracts somewhat from my appreciation of the image and perhaps going to a vertical crop would minimize the impact of the road. If this were mine I'd consider toning down the brightness of the distant background a little as well.
Cheers...

Thanks friends!
Surprising, everyone wants a vertical crop and I agree with it. This happens to be full frame.
Actually, this was shot for Sony on assignment and I have three versions of it. Second one is a vertical crop without the road and third one is just head, trunk and tree with 500mm.
Phil: Masth is a temporary condition, when liquid flows from the temples of elephant, they are quite erratic and sexually active during that period.
John: I was very close, this is at 70mm.
Brad: I happened to tone dow the BG, but agree, it needs more of it.
