Well, approaching night anyway. Caught our BoP backlit at sunset with shaded BG and could not resist. I decided to leave some BG leaf detail. Does that add to or detract from the shot for you? I did burn down some hot leaf edges but otherwise this is how it was. All comments welcome.>=))>

First of all, love the high contrast lighting, Bill ! In the light there are some nice, sharp details, and the flame-like appearance of the orange petals is stunning. I do like the bg leaves very much on the whole ( the white flag-like tip is especially nice ). I might just like to see the large shaded leaf a touch brighter to play down the cut off of the distant leaf, but that's not a deal breaker.

I love the light and the vibrancy on the main subject, Bill. The colors are excellent too. For me, the curved BG leaf does not bother me, but the strong vertical on the right of the bloom does distract for me.

The bg works well for me Bill. I think it highlights the diagonals in the subject and adds drama to the image. I like this a lot as posted. I've never gotten an image of one of these that I liked and you don't seem to be able to make one that I don't like. (smile) Masterful work.

Perfect title, Bill. The bird stands out nicely from the dark night. Love the light and lines in the orange petals. The background adds interest for me.

Lovely treatment. Only nit is how the green in center right and at bottom seem cut off by the black. Colors and shadow/light play beautiful.
