White Mountains, New Hampshire

Going way out of the box here, I think, but interested in what you think. Overwhelmed with color this past month.... weeks decided to do something a bit different. I took this in a less then full stream near the beginning of the the Davis Trail in the Whites on an autumn foliage safari. Like B&W's images of the desert southwest, I find I like dong a different take of autumn in New England. Sometimes we just get over whelmed by color so I thought I would take a different approach at least for this image.

I agree that the monochrome works well here - because of the fine composition and tones.

I like this very much as posted Eva. Lots of energy and the sharp leaves appearing out of the vortex/maelstrom has a lot of appeal for me.

Eva, This works great for me. The thumbnail doesn't do much but what a wonderful surprise when I opened it up. I really like what you did here and totally enjoy the different look. As Pat mentioned the part of leaves that are sharp really make a difference in this image, and what makes it work so well. I also like your processing on this very much which also added nicely to the image! Way to go out of the box!
