Marsh Path
by Thomas Haney
This past weekend my wife and I spent three nights at a little shack several miles offshore in Virginia's Barrier Islands, that has been in her family for many generations. There are only 4 or 5 of them in the whole barrier island chain, passed down from before it was owned by the Nature Conservancy. The trip was to celebrate our first anniversary, and it couldn't have been more wonderful. We spent each day fishing, clamming, crabbing, and exploring the endless waterways that cut through the marsh.
This dock leads from the nearest channel to the shack, and I took this photo of it one day in low light under stormy skies, before heading out to check our crab pots.
