Cattle Tyrant

Canon 1D-X, 500mm f4 x 1.4 TC, handheld
f5.6, 1/640, ISO4000

An exceedingly common bird of the Pantanal, but highly curious. I was experimenting with high key backgrounds... The bird is on a recently poured concrete walk at Pousada Alegre.

Full frame, slight sharpening.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Nice pose, fine details and pleasant lighting. I like the background fading away from the concrete. Well done Jim ! :toast:

Yes, I have seen them a lot in Brazil - lovely species. The pose is great, with the open beak and head turn. Maybe you could try and lighten it up some more for a real high key effect (as you were aiming for that) - but great as posted IMO ! Cheers, Hans

Nice shot Jim, the only suggestion I would give is to try to lighten the side of his face around the eye just a bit to bring in a little more detail to that area. Otherwise very nice as posted.

Jim,
Surprisingly for me the background does not distract at all, i agree with others who have suggested a slight lightening of the face, great pose :toast: :toast:

The setting and pose work very well, Jim. I would have liked to seen the rear leg and tail also in focus.
