Pantaneria Road Hazard

Canon 1D-X, 300mm x 2.0 TC, handheld
f6.3, 1/500, ISO200, +2/3ev

A very common sight on the Transpantaneria, they are not always willing to move off the road. These are big birds, some as tall as 5 feet, and weigh as much as 20 pounds.

Full frames, slight adjustments to Levels and slight sharpening. Note the whitish area on the back of the head isn't halo but the edge of a grayish stripe.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Sweet capture of this gorgeous looking bird Jim ! I like the soft colors and lighting. If me, I'd crop a little below the bird's feet and add a little room above the bird's head. But it is a fine image as it is. :toast:

Jim,

This looks a challenger for the Maribu Stork in the "ugly" stakes.
Is it possible to open up the blacks a little more? :toast: :toast:

That's an odd looking bird, Jim. Techs look great with good details on the whites - perhaps the blacks could do with one more round of brightening. I find the green background at the transition to the neck a little distracting. Otherwise the comp looks good.

Great pose on this fellow Jim. As posted I think it's too dark, no detail in the blacks and the whites could be brighter as well. If you could have gotten a lower angle that would have improved this as well. :toast:

Great capture. Thanks for sharing. I love the colors of the feathers. Do you know if this is a male or female based on color ?
