Lichen Art
by Greg Vaughn
"Rock Art" is one of my personal favorite subjects, so I was happy to see this weekly theme.
This photo of lichens on a rock was taken in Glacier National Park several years ago. It was an overcast, windy day - not much good for the grand scenics at Glacier, but just fine for a static subject like this. I was drawn to the color, shape and texture of the lichen patterns.
Tech stuff: Nikon D2X, 17-55mm lens at 55mm (~80mm equivalent on full-frame camera), f/8, tripod. I find a polarizing filter often helps when photographing rock art, but I don't recall if I used one for the photo or not. Wouldn't it be great if filter use was part of the EXIF data? :)

Thanks also for the "Welcome". I've actually been a member of NPN for a few years, but most of my involvement is on the PNW Forum. This is the first time I've submitted for the Weekly Challenge.
