This was taken in August this year on a wonderful trip to the Utah Badlands. I had wanted to shoot this bentonite ridge for a while and finally had a decent morning to give it a go.

Comments and critiques greatly appreciated and very helpful

Sweet! I've only spent a little time in this area many (many) years ago. But scenes like this are what I remember. Of course, the clouds take this composition to the next level, along with the warm light on the peaks of the ridge.

Great sky and nice to see you do color.
The FG is a bit dark for me, maybe a bit brighter?
The light on the peaks is very nice......

Beautiful color Gary and the clouds are really nice in this. No suggestions. I like it very much as posted.

Love the early morning light that highlights the ridge line so beautifully Gary.
Perfect timing & a sky that's the proverbial icing on the cake..
Great wide view pano comp/framing, it's on my desktop for the day :toast:

Gary, this is a lovely image that really needs to be seen large to be fully appreciated. The early light on the ridge is sweet and those clouds a wonderful addition to the sky. Had to look up where the Utah badlands were as a double check. Having spent time in Dugway (work related) and enjoyed the scenery there, I was wondering if this was nearby. BTW, I guess we need to talk about a deck-to-deck workshop event.

Beautiful light and layers, Gary, from the brush, to the ridge, to the moutnains, and then the clouds. If I had a nit, I would look at a possible wide angle distortion found on the left side of the image. Could be an illusion, but you could try Adaptive Wide Angle and see what you can fix.

This image is a whole lot of beautiful, and the clouds in the sky seal the deal for me. The light on the ridge is so sweet, and the reddish orange colors provide a nice contrast with the blue sky above.

Definitely nailed the magical light, not sure I'm thrilled with the comp. think I'd lose maybe the top 25% of the sky.

Fantastic! ... for all the reasons that are so obvious here. No nits at all.

EDIT: P.S. I just had a wild thought. I wonder if you ever might consider converting any of your images to black and white???  :jump:

I'll second what everyone else has been saying. Can't think of anything else to add. I do really enjoy looking at it and just soaking it in. Must be fantastic being there.

I am really drawn to the sky in this Gary. The lighting as mentioned is sublime, just kissing the top of the peaks. I really like the colour transition too.

Gary.

Gary: Just taking a cruise through your gallery and am especially enjoying this one. On most horizontal comps with the horizon in the frame I have to make a conscious effort to put it off center. This works for me as is but I like it better with about half the sky cropped away or even better make it a more radical pano by cropping off the top and bottom. For me the light on the peaks holds the most interest and in this particular comp I don't think it gets enough emphasis. >=))>
