Not an exciting species, but was a willing model. I was looking for a test subject as I continue to learn the ins and outs of a new camera. I was about 20 feet from the sparrow in the crabapple tree.
Feel this might be a bit over sharpened.

Canon PS SX60
1/500 @ F-8 ISO200
Canon 3.8-247 @ 247mm (1365 35mm eqv)
HH.

Taken about 11:00am CST

John the bird itself looks just fine on my monitor, the only thing that bugs me is the twig that nearly touches it's beak, but maybe your not bothered to much about that when testing your new camera.

John: I'm always appreciative of photos of the little birds and this photo is no exception. You've captured nice color and detail. As Keith mentioned, the twig touching the beak should be considered for cloning. The same would be true of the oof twig coming out of the bird's chest and rear as well as the crabapple hanging right over the bird's head. Richard

This has great potential. Seems to need simplification so the bird stands out more from the background. If some of the twigs and berries could be removed I think it would help immensely.

Please see my comments on your later post. I have the same reaction here. At the high end of zoom, the cameras just aren't that crisp.
