Like Human Lichen

Colorful habitat for humanity creeps up the side of a mountain high above Lima, Peru. I would imagine that 20 years ago none of these houses was there but the pressure to find living space forces people to stretch into what would not have seemed an unlikely place to build.

Canon T1i, handheld, 232 mm, f/6.3, ISO-400, 1/3200sec.

This looks like areas of Quito, Ecuador, but much better maintained.
Still, this would all turn to a pile of rubble with the next earthquake.
I guess ANY shelter is better than what 98% of the world we live in.

Very nice documentary image.

Good example of the stress on the environment and desperation of people to find homes. The next earthquake or mudslide could easily wipe them all out. A simple image which tells a story. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Dave,
I wish I had the Purple Paint Concession in this area.

This is really fascinating. I am sure it looks steeper than it is from this perspective, but this construction is amazing. I hope they don't get too many earthquakes in the area. Congrats on WP.

A very intriguing image. Similar in some ways to areas above Quito Ecuador.
Congrats on the HM win!
