I'm pretty sure this image belongs in Photo Art, not Landscape.

I wanted to experiment with this idea and would love any feedback.

Thanks in advance.

I like the effect that you achieved here, I've played quit a bit with converting images to BW and then bringing back color to one element. The only thing that bugs me about his one is that I see two focal points, the golden trees and the snow covered peak. It's kind of confusing to my eye. It's a wonderful image but I think if you want attention drawn to the color then I'd crop at least the top half out.

When photogs first figured out that they could do this with digital processing, it seemed everyone was trying this. I've done it occasionally with my colorful tent on a monochrome background and liked the result due in part to the fact that the tent is man-made against a natural background. Unfortunately it has become a bit of a cliche processing "gimmick" so I think that people maybe try and avoid it for some reason. I think that perhaps these work better as part of a series where you have a story to tell.
That being said, I quite like your attempt here and don't mind the snowy mountain.

Hey Kathy,
Well done on this one, this composition has so many interesting elements. Your processing is first rate and the results speak for themselves.
Very  Post

Boy, did I do a double-take on this one! I love how the monochrome accentuates the chiseled mountains. The golden trees against that amazing landscape really POP. The large dof tells me that you delighted in both elements-- mountains and trees-- and you found a great way to show that. Congrats on the Pick!
