I can't honestly remember why I cropped this like I did (it was three years ago) but it was probably to focus interest to something other than a bunch of rock.

T1i, f/11, 1/13 sec, ISO-400, 90mm, handheld.

I'd guess that you cropped this to let the needle provide some balance for the wet, aspen leaf. I'd say that worked well here, Dave. While that aspen leaf would make a great close up subject by itself, I like this view with the rock textures and the balancing needle.
