Pink Something

November 15, 2014 While at Fullerton Arboretum in California to photograph birds, it was a dreary morning and few birds were out. On the way back to the gate I detoured to the cactus garden area and photographed this flower. Perhaps someone out there knows the species. Since I was photographing birds, I had my Nikon D4 on a tripod with a Wimberley Gimbal. I was using the Nikkor 600mm lens with a 1.4TC, which made the focal length 850mm. Did not even think to remove the TC and move closer.

ISO 800 1/640 f/6.3 White balance auto RAW Processed in Lightroom and PhotoshopCC14.

This shot made my nearly no bird day worthwhile. Your comments are welcome and appreciated. :toast:

Hey Patrick,
I'm a big fan of capturing Flora with the camera set-up for Birds, I do it all the time but have had few results as nice as this one. Lovely image from the sweet BG, the great framing choice, the POV to the colors.
Well done . . . :toast:

Patrick - The leaves and flower resemble that of a Mimosa tree/plant.

Like the burst of pinks at the end of the diagonal stem and clean background
