This shot shows a pair of humpbacks. The whale on the right "has blown its stack" (exhaling from its blowhole. The whale on the left is preparing “ Deep Dive”.
The gull is looking for small fish & I am excited to see this encounter!:)

This Adventure into the GBR was filled with Amazing encounters with Whales !! At times we were very close and could smell the exhaled breath from the Blow as it drifted towards our location.

Worth waiting for, although I suspect the photo does little justice to the occasion. Not that it's not a good photo; but I would be shaking all over if I were there!

Hello Allen ... During the time spent on the mothership many many sightings were seen! Some were quite a distance but many sightings were navigable by our Excellent Tour Leaders. Brad & Captain Chris. The Admiral ( Jenn ) was Amazing with her insights & Chef. tastings !

Phil...yes, the encounters were Well beyond my expectations ! My first to capture these amazing wild and gentle giants!

Being very busy on deck shooting the whales with great anticipation to capture their image at the best timing possible , this was a real challenge through the heavy rains & misty dark conditions. We were constantly coached by Brad & Chris to prepare for a Breaching whale or when Bubble netting , with quick, startling massive heads and fins shining with the wetness.

Thanks for looking

Bill

Cool to catch two! I like the tail exposed against that dark background. In a perfect world the bird would be in a pose making him more identifiable, or not in the scene at all.

Great wildlife moment, Bill. On my monitor at least I think the image could be somewhat brighter but maybe that brings the background noise more into play.
