Great Gray Glide
by Max Waugh
I spent some time visiting a great gray owl nest site in Yellowstone last year. During one of the visits in early summer, I was able to watch one of the adults hunt in a meadow not far from the nest. In this case, it slowly "parachuted" down toward the grass in an attempt to pounce on some sort of prey (it came up empty).
