Looking Up

Not the greatest title to honor the mountains, but it fits because I was kind of in a hole when I shot this. The Saranac River was running extremely low, so all the shoreline vegetation was above me, partially obscuring the autumn leaves and mountains. The result does enhance the feeling of height in the distant mountains, but at the time I grabbed this view from my canoe as sort of a test shot because I liked the clouds. My intent was to beach my boat in a beaver run and scramble up the bank so I could get the shot I posted yesterday, with the colorful hardwoods in the foreground. Looking back, I like this one also, but for different reasons. Unfortunately, it's a crop, less than half of the original test shot.

Wayne,
This is a very nice view of the country from the river, and Looking up is such an appropriate title. The larger version feels much better than the smaller one, and the image works for me. I see so much potential in this beautiful part of the country you live in. You must love living there and being able to photograph the area.

Wayne, was this late morning light?

Oh and thank you for such a wonderful email. I will write back soon.

Wayne, I agree with Ryan and think you picked a good title for this image. I like the layers with the highlighted foreground grass and looking back through the mountains to those wonderful clouds. I do get the feeling of sitting low in a canoe like you were and looking up to see this view. I also agree that the larger version feels much better.

Wayne, it is a neat view. I like the contrast between the yellows in front and the reds on the mountains plus it's a very interesting sky.

Beautiful. I like the way the layers of color progress from the warmer tones of the grass, through the cooler tones on mountains and finally the sky. Interesting clouds are also a bonus. Nice work
