This image is an example of some incredibly lucky timing and an understanding wife. On the way back from a shopping trip with my wife, I told her I wanted to stop for a moment at a boat launch near home, just to check out the leaves on the river. She said, "OK, but I'm not going to sit here for hours while you take pictures." I told her not to worry; I just wanted to see if the leaves were good enough to come back tomorrow at sunrise, since it was already 11 AM, and not the best light. As we pulled into the gravel parking lot. I said, "Wow, look at that! Sorry, but I just gotta shoot this, as I jumped out of the car." She looked at the fog and replied "OK, but don't be long." (I was already grabbing my tripod.) I scrambled down the river bank and set up quickly. A layer of fog was oozing down the river, about to engulf the little islands just upstream, like a white molasses avalanche. The fog was moving so fast that I had no choice but to keep my promise about not taking a long time. The photo in my comment below was taken as the fog engulfed me, less than 8 minutes after I took this posted image.
