The Bombyliidae are a family of flies. Their common name is bee flies. Adults generally feed on nectar and pollen, some being important pollinators. Larvae generally are parasitoids of other insects.
F/10, 1/320th, ISO 800, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 + 1.4x & natural light.

Excellent, Howard. Well composed and exposed for the details in the dark fly as well as the yellow stamens on which it's feeding.

Wow, those are in your face colors with the yellow flowers against that red background, Howard. You've got great detail in the fly as well.

He's kinda ugly which makes him all the more striking against the beautiful colors of the petals. I almost can't stop looking at it. I guess it has a powerful emotional impact for me. Great job.

That fly is an ugly looking thing! But the image is good, with beautiful colors in the flowers, excellent detail in the fly, good comp.
