Parting Shot

On my last morning at Great Sand Dunes NP I stuck around after dawn for the moonset. I probably looked pretty comical scrambling along the banks of the frozen Medano River to get the moon in just the right relationship to the dunes. This was my last shot before the moon sunk behind the dunes for good. All comments welcome.>=))>

I love the gentle curves of the dunes and your choice of almost filling the frame with them. I also admire how you have incorporated the faint moon into the composition. Really well done, Bill.

This is a wonderful view, Bill. The series of sweeping swirls in the dunes create both a sense of depth and a somewhat abstract feeling, the moon shows up perfectly exposed to add an extra special touch.

I love this one Bill. As fine an image that incorporates the moon as I've seen. You'd think that would be easy but I've thrown away almost all the images I've made with the moon in them. This is really nice.

Very sculptural Bill and the moon really creates a nice counterpoint. It's not hard to imagine this photo is taken from one moon at another.
I've got to get to these dunes someday soon.

Bill, This is a great photograph. I love the curved lines of the dunes and the wonderful textures they have. The moon works perfect in your comp and adds a great finishing touch. Excellent work on this!

Excellent parting shot, Bill. The image has a nice abstract quality with the sand formations, and the moon is well placed.

I love this Bill. I was so taken with the dunes and shapes I didn't even notice the moon at first. This is a real beauty, my friend.

After having been there a few times, I'm a big fan of GSD. The Moon really sets off the plain blue sky, and the enchanting folds in the dunes are icing on the cake. Nice to see this without it having being tracked up by explorers.
