Stormy Day, Calm Bay

I think the larger view helps this image for sure, so please have a look.

This image is from Door county at Peninsula State Park. I was on a random trail and exploring the shoreline on a day when the winds were howling at 30 mph. I happened to stumble upon a calm bay, calm for this day, and this is the image I came up with. The trees really caught my eye with the color contrasting the greens.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving any thoughts that happen to come out at the time of viewing

Beautiful fall color...
A bit more water at the bottom would look nice for me.
PP, image quality and colors are first rate.

Those colors are lovely, Ryan. I like the diagonal split between evergreens in the background and colorful fall trees in the front. I think I'd like to see a little bit more of the stormy bay, though.

Lovely colors in the trees along the shore, Ryan. Can't say that it looks especially calm, based on the water.

lovely colors Ryan. I wonder how it will look if you crop the top to make it a 6x18 kind of pano

Very nice, Ryan. The diagonal of color is lovely as is the contrasting greens. The rough patch of water feels a little crowded compositionally at the bottom, but as you said there might not have been a much else to work with. :toast:

Great energy and a fine composition Ryan. The sense of wind here is as strong as any image I've seen. Beautiful color as well. I like it a lot.

Hi Ryan, This works very nice for me. I like the comp and especially enjoy the light and beautiful fall color. Just shows me that I need to get back to Door County.

Ryan, well you're absolutely right about the larger version. This came out gorgeous considering the overall conditions you've mentioned. I really like this composition and angle(s) taking place with the tree lines and beach as well. I could see this with a tiny more contrast / saturation, but as always that's personal taste items in the end and never any nits.

Interesting and unusual to see waves lapping against deciduous trees. Well captured, Ryan.

I like the bright trees against the dark conifers. The waves add a nice sense of drama. Nicely done.
