Secluded and Nearby
by Wayne Jones
Nice WP theme. I had a hard time deciding what "in your home town" means, since I live about 5 miles from a scenic state park and 8 miles from the border of a huge protected forest preserve. For some reason I don't do enough rural and farm scenes, probably because I spend my time with a camera in the more wild places. In the end, I decided that some small woodlands that are not parks, and are within two or three miles of my house, would be fair game.
This waterfall is about two miles from home. It's not far from the road, but hidden from view by dense woods. It's not a tourist attraction, since it's on private property with no place to park other than pulling over just off the roadside, and you can only see it from a very steep hillside that's difficult to negotiate. I rarely go there, but I do have this shot from 2005.
