This image was taken at Chincoteague NWR, Virginia this fall. I think it is a molting juvenile Great Blue. I have never seen this before. It was in a tree with four Black-crowned Night-Herons.Comments on ID appreciated.

Taken with Canon 7D

ISO 400
1/1000 sec
f /4.0

EF 300 f/2.8 with 1.4x

Comments appreciated.

Pleasing perch, clean background, great subject with good exposure and details. Could use a small dose of sharpening. Otherwise a sure winner! I can't wait to get back to Chincoteague. I'm told the best time is the weekend before Thanksgiving.

A very natural looking capture with good detail, Bill. I concur that just a bit more sharpening on the larger version would top it off.
