I posted this image partly to show this handsome young buck and partly to show the capabilities of the new Canon 7D Mark II. I shot this at ISO 1600 and did not apply any noise reduction. I think it looks pretty noise free. This guy was really close. I was almost zoomed all the way out. It was hand held. Comments and critiques welcome.

Nice one, Jerry. He gave you a nice pose and you were able to grab it. Good detail on the fur and antlers of this guy. He certainly looks like he is concentrating on something. Serious stare. I should have the problem of too much lens. I needed your 200-400 today. My next few posts will have lots of crops. Hearing lots of good things about the Mark II. You seem to be liking it, too.

It is not just the camera Jerry, but who holds the camera. That said this is a very good photo of a whitetail buck. It is hard to believe this was shot at ISO1600. I do think it could be just a tad darker, but that's just me. Thanks for sharing and the try out results of the new camera.

Your processing succeeds in lifting him from the busy background. Too bad about the really heavy black trunk angling through, however. If mine, I would add a touch of extra sharpening to just the eye reflections to make them more lively. This seems like a beautiful young whitetail buck that will grow into a real dandy!
