Defiance

My last post from Hunting Island. SC. This project, I knew from the beginning, would be a challenge. I had been there many years ago without taken any good photos. This time, my mind set was different, I wanted to document decaying Ocean front trees, before they disappear. Much of the Island has disappeared since 2006.( see my photo in Environmental Gallery “Ocean Fatality”)

Thank you for all of your comments and support, I sure have learned a lot.

Hey Holger,
I have surely enjoyed the series of outstanding images you have posted from Hunting Island, they tell an interesting story of this place and the troubles it faces. This image needs some CW rotation otherwise well seen and presented.

Clean popular motif. Nice. Do wish for more interest in the sky.

I agree about the rotation Holger but otherwise I like the image a lot. Beautiful mood and I like the minimalist composition and the great light.

I really like this image Holger, and I think the character of this tree thought provoking on it's life. The color palette works out great in this capture to have the tree really stand out against the sky. Nicely captured!

Again, I prefer this minimalist comp with the single tree, Holger. If you could massage a bit more color out the sky, that would add to the image. Very nice as is, however.

Clean and simple yet striking! Classic composition and it works perfectly here, Holger. The light is great and I like that you didn't over do the processing. Very nice! :toast:

Another wonderful take from your Hunting Island series, Holger. I like the quiet subtleness of the image along with the clean presentation.

Very nice indeed Holger, I like the comp as is but think this would also work well with a square crop. You also have two large dust spots on the RHS just above the horizon.

Cheers, Gary.

So lonesome looking. I love the light and the details in the tree and the sand. I think the sky suits this.
