Geometrid

This geometrid was captured last Summer in early June. Being a glutton for punishment, I shot a series of photos to see whether I could get a reasonable final image after stacking. This turned out OK even with a slight breeze which moved the moth slightly in the frame. K5 IIs, 300mm f4 plus 45mm extension (1/30 sec at f10, ISO 500)............Jim

Hi Phil,

14 images in a Pmax stack. The final image required a touch of editing for artifact removal...............................Jim

Well done, Jim. The moth is a very striking subject. Nice work with the stack and overall presentation.

Yes, some motion can be tolerated by the stacking software...just means more cleanup during post processing. You've got great detail in the moth and it's perch. In the larger version, I see a touch of edge doubling along the right hand side of the sharp leaf. That's a common stack motion artifact, easily fixed. This is a lovely look at the moth.
