Just back from my annual Bosque Del Apache Workshop. Had a great time with a great group of folks.

Had a chance to meet some fellow NPN'ers, Kurt Bowman, Bill Leggett and Sharon Sims (who attended our workshop). Always fun to meet folks in person.
Looking forward to seeing images from these folks and their portfolio from the Bosque.

This is one from the crane pools one morning. I shot a series of 20 frames as this Sandhill took off. I enjoyed the splash and leg positions from this frame.

Canon 7D Mark II
500mm f/4 L IS
1/1000 @ f/6.3
ISO 640

Larger version included.

This has a small crop from the bottom, other than that full frame.

Thanks for taking a look an providing your thoughts.

You caught a nice pose here, Keith, with a great background to really make those wings pop. I like the mix of dark and light tones in the crane's body and plumage.

Nice timing and sweet pose with the lifted leg, Keith. Judging by all the Snowy feathers many had taken flight by then.

I'll post a few of mine once I get back home to my REAL monitor

Looks like a sprinter with full leg extension on one leg and getting ready to plant the other. Nice feather detail in the wings particularly the color shading. Lots of tones of gray in this image but then there is that bright yellow eye. Well composed and good choice of an image to work up.

A beautiful image Keith and if I didn't already know you were at Bosque I would of thought the photograph was taken somewhere else. Usually you can immediately (or at least guess) tell a crane image is from Bosque by that famous warm light. This capture is quite interesting to me because of the cool colors. Look forward to seeing more from the workshop. :toast:

Always love these take-off shots Keith. I need to start posting a few....just behind on processing, but starting to catch up a little. Great to meet you and excellent action caught here. Love the wing position and trailing water. Getting these isolated is also a very hard task with all the BG birds. Nice work!

It's really funny Keith, I came home from the workshop with an image of the same bird, same moment, just a little different angle. We must have had our eyes on this one at the same time. I doubt that mine is processed as well as yours though

Wonderful shot, and the colors are not the typical I have seen before. Love the blacks and grays. :toast:

another super shot Keith. Beautifully caught in the act of running/take off.
my only slight (very slight) niggle is that your shooting position is slightly behind the crane, I'd love to see this shot from a position slightly in front of the crane. Not asking much I know.
