Did he complete the ride

This shot was taken November 23, 2014 in Mission Beach, California. While staying in a house nearby, I took my 600mm lens I normally use to photograph birds out to the beach and snapped shots of surfers. In addition to getting drenched up to my waist when I was more focused on the shot than the water before me, I got a few good shots.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm ISO250 1/1600 F/9 White Balance Auto RAW Shot from a tripod with a Wimberley Gimbal. Processed in Lightroom and PhotoshopCC2014.

And yes he made the turn and completed the ride.

Hey Dude this is some Narly Imaging going on here !
No kidding Patrick, this could easily be on the cover of Surfer Magazine in fact I would consider submitting it in one of their photo contest, here's the link - http://www.surfermag.com/photos/
Excellent action and detail with sweet colors and lighting, some may wish for more room at the top but this image is already Over-the-Top.
Way  Man !

Very nice action capture Patrick!
You're braver than me (getting out there in the water with your gear).
So my hat's off to you, excellent effort & results :toast: :toast:

Excellent. And excellent you did not fry your gear in the salt water. Very cool image.

When I took this photo I was standing on a berm that previously marked the high tide mark. When I got soaked the water rushed up over the berm and sprayed me. The berm acted like a ramp shooting the water up off the sand. I was not in the surf taking photos. Fortunately the spray did not hit the camera or the lens, although it was shocking to get completely soaked unexpectedly.

Thank you for your concern. :toast:

This is really top notch Patrick. Agree with Mike that this could make a surfer mag. Now we know why you take all those BIF photos. Subtle practice for your real avocation. Enjoyed this one.
