My take on...

Icon? Check. Overshot? Check. Nevertheless - here's my take on it. Well, one of many, in fact.

Shot from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park in the early morning (before sunrise). Lots of other people around, but still a rather enjoyable experience.

"Overshot?" No. There is always something different about scenes when Mother Nature is involved. This is a beautiful image. Small nit: the light mound in the lower right corner draws attention a bit.

Nice light and textures, especially in Manley Beacon and the near hills. I could see this with the background and sky lowered in value a bit, and some of the cyan removed. Yes, the little bit of light rock in the lower right corner is somewhat distracting. Nice take on a oft photographed subject.

I sure like the lighting, colors, and textures in the foreground, Basil. The are set off well by the soft peaks in the distance.

Well done shot. The light on the central peak contrasts beautifully with the ones in foreground and to left of it. Death Valley is a treasure and thanks for adding yet another image of it to the many.
