This is a White-Browed Sparrow Weaver taken in Selous Game Reserve , Tanzania.
I had forgotten all about it until I was reminded about by Tom Kellie who found it on my Zenfolio.

This is proof that a bird doesn't have to have spectacularly colored plumage to make a great image. This is very nice. The background is superb. My only nit, and it is a small one, would be for the eye and area around the eye to be lightened just a bit. Great image.

I like the pose, perch, and background. Great detail. I, too, thought about making the eye lighter, though it does show better in the larger photo. Overall, great shot. :toast:

Very nice clean image Ken. Another vote for lightening the exposure near the eye a little. I have noticed this more in your recent posts. How long has it been since you have calibrated your monitor?

Ken: wrote this before seeing the other comments. A good example of less being more. By that I mean, not every image has to be of a raptor catching its prey. Very good pose, perch and background. My only suggestion would be to lighten the area around the eye a bit. Evidently, the other commenters and I think somewhat alike. Richard

Ken,

I couldn't resist lightening up the eye and area around the eye. Hope you don't mind. Again, wonderful capture.

Very nice image Ken. A fine example that a great image doesn't have to be one of an avian rock star. That said, this is a very good looking bird.
