Ice on the Yough

while perusing the archives I came across this image that I had forgotten about. I could not locate the original file so I am not sure of the specs other than a Nikon D700 and a Nikon 80-200. This was taken along the Youghiogheny River as it winds it's way through Swallow Falls SP in western MD.

As always thanks for your thoughts.

That's very nice Ed. It may have been done many times before but the effect of the juxtaposition of moving water with the clear fragility of the crystalline ice never fails to be mesmerising.

I think that the composition and detail are very beautiful . The image is dark, but I would not brighten it up, as it fits the mood. The ice crystals barely betray the scale. :toast:

That undulating row of clear ice along the edge shows some wonderful details. It is contrasted nicely by the softness of the moving water. I find myself exploring the white ice and wishing for some additional contrast there to better see the textures. This is a chilly but nicely evocative scene. It also reminds me that I haven't visited Swallow Falls in years and never in winter...something else for my to do list.

I like the mood in this, Ed. I like the details in the ice fringe and that splash of water adds to the dynamic. The blue looks very nice. The slightly darker presentation here works well.

Very nice intimate scene, Ed. I might be tempted to pop the brights just a bit to add some contrast, but very minor. Looks great as presented.

Beautiful, Ed ! The shadowy, icy overhang dropping from the pure white of the snow over the soft movement of the water, edged with darkness, makes for a wonderfully evocative series of juxtapositions.

I think the framing of this image is well done Ed, and the texture and details are sweet. I like the idea of bringing up the bright tones just a tad provide a bit more contrast.

Very nice work as is Ed!! :toast:

Very nice, Ed. Excellent capture of the textures in both the water and ice. I like it as presented/exposed here.

A very nice intimate. The hint of blueness works for me. Well seen.

The soft blues of this image work well with the nice bright details in the leading edge of ice.
