White breasted nuthatch

Taken at the Sugar Grove Nature Center, mid morning. Got this image of the very active nuthatch, as it searched through the branches of the tree. The many small twigs provided plenty of challenges in getting sharp focus.

I can see the challenge of working around the twigs! This is probably a significant crop (?) - the detail held up quite well, but there is some noise in the background, especially visible in the large photo - perhaps you can remove some of that noise? Otherwise the background works quite well, and sets off the bird very nicely.

I know this guy. We've had them as feeder birds on both coasts. They certainly are wide ranging. Colors are good and so is the detail. I might try to get a little more detail out of his black cap. Two things I might try to improve for next time. For some reason the straight up and down seems strange to me even though they are known for working downward on trees. Also, I think things are a bit tight around him. I know you had twig problems which may be why you cropped like you did. Just for future reference.

Nice detail and techs in this one John. I thin Peter gave some good advice. Keep at it and eventually you will get a chance for one without as many twigs.
