Water Cow

I found this cow elk standing in the Madison River in West Yellowstone last September. I liked the late afternoon light and how it lit up her eyes and coat. Yeah, the rear view is a bit unusual, but that can be a nice change of pace. I am always amazed at how long the elk will stand in the river. I think it is soothing for them. Comments and critiques welcome.

Nice capture. Wish there was a little more sharpness on her face; otherwise very pleasing image.

Hi Jerry,

Technically this is a solid shot, and the cow is certainly giving up a nice head turn (and with good eye contact). I also like the simplicity of the image. But I have to say that the dominance and detail of the back end of the elk is a bit too powerful for me to really warm up to this one. Butt I suppose if you're ever giving a talk on elk anatomy this one might come in darned handy!

Cheers...

Jerry....my comments pretty much echo Brad's and he put it way more eloquently than I could.
But still, technically a sound image!

Nice if a little revealing

Nice light and detail on this cow. I might have preferred a different pose and the crop removing most of the legs seems awkward?
