The 2 bucks from my last post are shown still at it. I must have watched them for half and hour before they moved off. In reviewing the photos of this pair, I had a real sense that the smaller buck was quite skillful and may be a keen competitor when the next rutting season rolls around. A slightly different position allowed me to frame this a bit differently. This is about a 50% crop and I think all things considered, I'm approaching the limit of reasonableness. I do like the little better light here but I still have a sense of softness. I'm wondering if I had a bit of fog on my lens. Too late to check now. In addition to the crop, I added just a little exposure, a little temp to warm, contrast, plus vibrance, and clarity. Your comments and critiques would be appreciated.

Peter, I like the action in this one, but those OOF branches keep it from being a winner IMHO. It does look like fog, mist or condensation was present. I would try to kick up the contrast some to see if that would help. Thanks for sharing.

Nice action, but the OOF branches and grass in the foreground are fatal IMHO.

Nice look at the 'sparring' action Peter, all the best this coming year :wavey:

Hi Peter,

I have to agree with Basil - between the contrast issue (thinking you're right on the fog on the lens) and those OOF branches that are totally overlapping the subjects this one is kind of non-recoverable (removing the branches WOULD be possible, but it would take a lot of work in Photoshop and not sure it's worth it).

Cheers...
