I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the holidays with the people they love, and I am very fortunate to have this supportive community to grow with and learn from everyday. Thank you for helping me on my journey in photography.

This is an image from Starved Rock State Park,IL and I captured it about 6 years ago. At this time a year, the water flow is usually low to none existent for this area, and I was fortunate to experience a good amount of water. I have been back every year since this was captured, and never had enough water to work with to capture this canyon in other ways. The water makes this one special in my book, and I hope you enjoy the image.

This is the park where I fell in love with photography 10 years ago,the place that ignited the passion, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. :toast:

I would enjoy any thoughts y'all may have on this image, and thank you for making the time to have a look.

Whoa! That is gorgeous! Love the autumn colors along with the water. The composition is excellent. Eye candy.

Fantastic look at a magical place.

But how on earth did you get 5 seconds with no one else there on such a gorgeous day!? I've been there more in the winter when its frozen and its packed full of people.

Noting that I'm not on a calibrated monitor at the moment...I'd experiment with the color of the water bringing it a bit warmer in the fall area. The other thing I like to do is dodge and burn on long exposure water a subtle amount to make the wispy water stand out.

The curvature of the landscape adds a lot of interest Ryan. The autumn color and ghostly water falls are very appealing to me. I can see why you fell in love with this place.

Looks great. I really like the warm yellows and oranges in the background, as well as the composition looking through the waterfall. The ground where the water hits is rather cool in color, I think if there was a suggestion to be made, this would be it - slightly warmer color balance for this area of rock. Other than that, it's really, really great.

Quite magical with the colors, and especially the thin veil of water you were able to get behind.

A really charming and photogenic scene beautifully photographed. I love the clash of warm autumnal hues and the cool colour of the reflected sky in the water.

A very beautiful image, Ryan - I love the depth and the color contrast - the very subtle fog caused by the waterfall works very well, I don't see how you can possibly improve on this!

Beautiful, Ryan. They say timing is everything, but so is taking advantage of unique opportunities, as you did here. Well done. :toast:

Ryan, What a wonderful job you did capturing this place in these conditions. The misty falls looks great with your 5 second exposure and I very much like the cool tone there in contrast with the warmer fall colors. Your composition also works really nice showing a wonderful view of this place. I can't say I would want for any more because you have it all here for my taste. Excellent work! :toast:

Nice perspective. Personally I like the contrast of the cool tones in the water with the autumn colours behind.

This is a great POV complimented with some beautiful autumn color, Ryan. I can see why this SP holds a special place in your heart as you have posted some wonderful images from this area. The large version is a real treat and I like the combination of warm and cool colors in this wonderful scene.

Very beautiful image, Ryan ! Love the hot/cold contrasts of colour and the sweep of the landscape behind the pool of water; excellent lighting too.

Lovely light and really interesting color. I do think the blue in the water and the rock below it could be warmed up just a bit. I love the Autumn trees.

I can see why this was a special place for you, and your timing was perfect.

Marvelous image. I really like the diaphonous (sp?) nature of those falls. The ability to see right through them and see their effect on the colors of the background foliage. I can't think of a way to improve it. I kind of agree with Preston that the blue has a bit of an unnatural almost platinum look to it. I like it in the air but less so on the foreground.

Great image Ryan. My only suggestion is to remove all the blue saturation from the water because blue doesn't really blend with the rest of the image. Making the waterfalls white will really make the whole scene pop imo.

Beautiful spot with a lovely and interesting perspective. I could see this being warmer in the water and wet areas. But also figure this is probably how I would see it. Looks great to me.

Wonderful depth here, and nice pov, as noted before. The water feels a bit on the blue side, but other than that, I find myself very much enjoying this image! Thanks for including the large version.

Thanks for y'all thoughts on this image, and they are always very much appreciated.

My biggest debate was the water, and I will explore that idea some more.
