Lazy Days of Summer #666

While paddling off Southport I. in Maine last summer, I encountered several harbor seals basking on a rock. Powershot SX-700, ISO 400, f/6.9, 1/600, 788mm equiv.; about a 60% crop of original to isolate from neighboring seals. In post-processing I reduced the highlights to lessen the shine from his belly and added some sharpening. Comments and suggestions always welcome and thanks for viewing.

Love the quasi-monotonicity of this, Jim, as well as how the smoothness of the water is mimicked by the seal. That smoothness is nicely contrasted by the darkness and fine texture of the sea weed surroundings. If you want to pursue reducing the belly highlights further, check out the 12% cloning approach from Harley Goldman that's described under the CANP regional forum.
