Excellent take on this baby or small elephant, Ingrid. The view with the short DOF both FG & BG does a nice job of isolating the subject, yet enough otherwise detail to see and understand the surrounding environment. I like the hide and seek or peering around scene overall.

Ingrid: that's a very appealing shot, especially so when viewed large. There's pleasing light and background. Having only the subject in sharp focus was a great choice. Congrats, Richard

Hi Ingrid,

You did a good job catching the expression and wrinkles on the baby elephant's face. At first glance, I thought the image was slightly dark, but the larger version reveals some excellent lighting and details that you were able to capture. You also were able to use your f stop effectively to isolate the baby from the surrounding features of the scene.:toast: .................Jim

Nice choice for DOF here Ingrid. I like the curling trunk and the placement in the frame is perfect. While I like it as presented, I wonder if selectively dodging the elephant a tiny bit might be an improvement? I would keep the tree dark to call less attention to it....just noticed, this is mom in the FG, not a tree...lol

Adorable image, Ingrid, and wonderfully photographed and presented. While I don't LOVE the effect of our view of him ending so abruptly at the neck, the fact he's disappearing behind mom(?) balances that somewhat for me. The light, detail and textures are exquisite, and the expression and pose, including trunk position, is wonderful.

It is easy to mistake the mother's leg for a tree! It is good to see you posting again. The babe is adorable.
